Digital Electrolytes, Digitalism has recently opened a contest to the global massive.

Starting October 17^th, you and your neighbour get the chance to legally show off your production skills by remixing, ‘’taken away’’ Digitalism’s first completed title from their up and coming album. With the winner having his/her tune, on Ep and released worldwide with the French label, Kitsune.

Interested? Follow the 3 step guide below:

-          First, sign-up and download the base track from http://www.thedigitalism.com/remixcompetition.htm

-          Then,  upload your track onto your MySpace music profile(obviously if you don’t have one create one at www.myspace.com)

-          Send via email the url of your MySpace to IREMIXEDTAKENAWAY@THEDIGITALISM.COM  with the subject heading as ‘ I REMIXED TAKEN AWAY’

The Contest ends mid-November, and winner will be announced before Digitalism’s concert in Hamburg, December 4^th.

Thanks to the Olympics, I had a chance to revisit my roots and travel to my home town Perth in Western Australia. As you might have heard or seen, Perth has one of the largest Drum and Bass scenes in Australia. And has raised, but maybe not creatively inspired, such internationally recognized acts as Greg Packer and Pendulum.

Aside from the Drum and Bass scene, Perth’s nightlife is not very up to date nor is it glamorous. In my opinion, most of the “latest” electronica/hiphop is either from a ministry sound album or no different from the tracks played at the windows trio.

As much of a beat adrenaline junkie as I am, I found my self preferring to head to local contemporary bar next to a yacht club, with a group of old friends, a glass of red, some olives, cheese and bread, playing Jenga while watching the sun disappear over the ocean. (oviously the sun disappears in the east but it is for dramatic effect.)

Perth in a bubble is a great place to retire or raise a family, but with the luxury of being able to head out on a friday or saturday and see amazing residents or international dj’s spinning good drum and bass.
